Most Search Programmes Measure Effort. Few Measure Position.

Rankings slip and no one can say why. AI answers absorb the clicks your reports still count as impressions. Activity gets presented as outcome. Share of voice is the honest measure: of the search demand in your category, how much does your brand actually own, and how much are competitors taking instead?

How I measure it

How the Work Runs.

Four steps, in order, every time. The same framework behind more than thirty client audits.

  1. 1

    Audit

A full accounting of where you stand: technical health, content, competitors, and your current share of the category.

  2. 2

    Strategy

Which ground to contest, what winning it is worth, and what it will take, in plain terms your board can read.

  3. 3

    Build

Briefs, fixes and systems your team or your agency ships, with me in the room until they land.

  4. 4

    Measure

Share of voice, positions and revenue, reported on a cadence you choose. No vanity metrics.

SEO vs AI Search: What's Actually Different

Traditional SEO optimises for clicks from blue links. AI search optimises for inclusion in generated answers. The overlap is smaller than most teams assume.

Asked by Every Serious Buyer.

  • Most work runs as either a fixed-scope audit or a monthly advisory retainer. Pricing depends on the size of your site and the scope of the problem, so it is quoted on request after a short scope call. You will always know the full cost before any work starts, and there are no lock-in terms beyond the current month.

  • No. Most of my work sits alongside an existing team: setting the strategy, running the deep technical work they do not have capacity for, and reviewing what gets shipped. If you have no team, I help you build or brief one.

  • AI search is visibility inside generated answers: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews. For most large brands the traffic is still small, but the citation patterns being set now will be expensive to change later. The audit shows exactly where you stand before you spend a dollar on it.

  • Technical fixes often move the needle within weeks. Competitive share-of-voice gains typically take three to six months of sustained work. Anyone promising faster in a hard category is guessing, and I will tell you which of your targets are realistic before we start.

  • Large businesses and enterprise: national retailers, financial services, B2B and eCommerce brands with established sites and real competition. If you are earlier than that, I will say so on the scope call and point you somewhere useful.

  • Both, depending on the engagement. I write briefs and fix specifications your developers can ship directly, and I stay involved through implementation to make sure nothing is lost in translation.

  • Melbourne, working with businesses across Australia. Everything runs fine remotely; on-site days in Melbourne and Sydney are easy to arrange.
